Dear Friends,
If you are like me, sometimes you read a verse in the Bible that you just wish wasn't there! We read one of these in our team devotional time this morning. Acts 14 describes how Paul and Barnabas left Derbe for Lystra, Iconium and Antioch where they strengthened the believers. In verse 22 it says that 'they encouraged them to continue in the faith, reminding them that they must enter into the Kingdom of God through many tribulations.' I didn't like reading that! I even looked up the root words of the verse and checked other translations - hoping that mine wasn't accurate. It was accurate!
What Paul is saying is that an integral part of our journey with the Lord is to endure hardship and tribulation - it is not just reserved for those brave missionaries who travel to far flung countries. Thankfully, few of us ever have to endure the kinds of suffering that Paul talked about in 2 Corinthians 11, but we still have times when we have to endure and to hold onto the Lord.
Right now we are in one of those tough times and while, like Paul, we are totally trusting the Lord for our needs, he also shared financial needs with God's people (in 2 Corinthians 8) and encouraged his readers to 'excel in the grace of giving!' (verse 7).
The purpose of this letter, therefore, is to ask if you would consider helping the work of Ellel USA financially at this time. God continues to move powerfully through our courses and Healing Retreats - as many of you could give testimony to - but the reality is that financially we are struggling. The economic downturn has meant that our donation and course income has dropped significantly as people tighten their belts. However, my plea to you is that this is not the time to withhold your giving to the Kingdom of God. The need is so great and we need resources to continue this vital work.
Ultimately, we are in the Lord's hands and we will continue to walk in the vision that God has clearly given us for this work. We are looking to Him, but we feel it is right to let you know of the need so that you can respond if He puts it on your heart to do so.
The situation is that we are in need of approximately $50,000. This would amount to 100 people giving a gift of $500. You may be able to give more or less than this - all gifts are a great blessing regardless of size. You can make your donation online (www.ellelministries.org/usa/support/donationtextusa), by calling our office (at 813-737-4848) or by mailing in your gift to our office (1708 English Acres Drive, Lithia, FL 33547).
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter and for your continued love and support. We pray God's richest blessings on you and your families as you continue to follow His leading in your life.
Every blessing in Jesus,
Andy Taylor
