Ellel Scotland
Newsletter - 27th September 2007

Dear Reader,

It is hard to say we are coming to the end of summer as it doesn’t actually feel like the sun has had its chance to shine this year.  Sadly this has led to a much smaller crop of fruit and vegetables anticipated from our garden.  However, God has continued to bless us abundantly in His mercy, grace and healing power.  We were thrilled that our new courses were received so well and that the building work for the disabled rooms have begun.

As we continue with our Healing Retreats it often encourages us that there are a growing number of Ministry Team and that many of these have come through our Modular School.  It is exciting to see them continue in their growth as they move forward in their destinies under God.

"The joy I am feeling now is overwhelming. I feel cleansed, restored, healed and whole in Christ. My thanks and praise for the Lord are never-ending. This is the best day of my life because I have found God, finally!" Healing Retreat

With the Christmas puddings already lining the shop shelves it would be easy to think that 2007 is almost over and done with but we still have a packed programme to fulfil before we reach that point. We hope to see some of you before the year is out.

With every blessing,

Malcolm and Anna Wood

New Courses Hailed Successes

August saw the pioneering of Ellel Scotland’s new courses, The Quest and Discovering the Treasure of Life.

The Quest was a powerful and life-transforming week for the young adults who attended – as well as a lot of fun and laughter.  The mix of teaching, ministry, activities and outings provided the perfect environment for the delegates to flourish and grow in their own personhood and their relationship with God.

"I feel different.  I feel more alive and I now love the real me." The Quest

At a slightly more sedate pace, Discovering the Treasure of Life ran shortly afterwards and was again a wonderful time of transformation for many.   The family atmosphere of love and acceptance brought an added dimension to the teaching, ministry, creativity and outings.

"God’s healing and restoration started almost the moment I arrived at Blairmore." Discovering the Treasure of Life

Running these events highlighted the special gifting that Blairmore House has to fulfil some of God’s purposes. The environment created by the situation of the house and the diligent care of the team allows God to break through gently but powerfully.  It is a delight to see God working in this way.

Wonderful Gift from Local Dutch School

When we received a telephone call from a Modular Graduate saying that the local Dutch School was closing and asked if we would like any of the redundant furnishings, we had no idea what was to come.

As the day approached for us to receive the items our eyes widened as we saw three large trucks arriving, full of furniture, computers, art and craft materials, shelving units, AV equipment, and much, much more! On top of which they brought 6 men who did all of the shifting of the goods into storage.

It took a whole day just to catalogue all of the gifts and we are now in the process of sorting through and homing all of the items.  Praise God for His provision!

Disabled Rooms in Progress

In our last e-newsletter we mentioned that we hoped to start work on the development of two disabled en-suite bedrooms.  We are now in the process of doing just this, with thanks to support from a local charity who offered to sponsor some of the work.

Last week we had specialist asbestos removers in to clear the old boiler and the boiler room.  We are now installing the new boilers which will be able to cope with the addditional demands of this side of the house.

Please continue to pray for all of the development work: for resources and for safety of all those working on the projects.

Spreading the Word of Ellel Scotland

In August, we had an exciting week where we had a stand at the Keswick in Buckie convention, held about 25 miles north of Blairmore.  It was a blessed time of bridge building and meeting with local Christians; many of whom had no idea we were here!  This led us to think about how we can effectively spread the word that Ellel Ministries Scotland exists and wants to be a service to the local church and wider afield.

If you feel that you would be willing to become an ambassador for Ellel Scotland please contact us and let us know. We will send as much literature as you feel you can utilise and will keep you informed of upcoming events.

Team Update

We welcomed Jess Sawyers onto our Young People’s Team in August and sadly said goodbye to Rebekah and Caitlin as their respective times with us came to an end. Rebekah will continue her teacher training and Caitlin hopes to start Bible College in the autumn. We are blessed to have several short-term volunteers join us for a few weeks over the next months; which is always a blessing and eases the pressure on the rest of the team.

As always, we are excited when we see our team develop their giftings within the ministry and we are delighted that Peter took his first teaching sessions during The Quest and is joining the teaching team for an upcoming Healing Retreat.  Johann has moved more into working in the grounds and we are delighted to see the results of his hard work already. Erica will soon be moving into the office in preparation for taking over from Liz when she goes on maternity leave.
