27th July 2007

Greetings from the Directors
Welcome to Ellel Scotland's first e-news bulletin!  We are thrilled to be able to keep in touch with all of you so easily and share some of the more intimate details of life at Blairmore.

2007 has been a wonderful, yet challenging, year so far.  Our seemingly incessant battle with the council  planning department has finally drawn to a favourable end as we received  the approved building warrant for the new development of the house.  It  has been a long, hard struggle for all concerned as well as a time of deep dependence upon God and the vision He has given.

Anna and Malcolm WoodWe continue to be amazed at all that God accomplishes through the work  here at Blairmore House.  We are always encouraged by the testimonies following our courses and our retreats.  The pastors and leaders retreats are a highlight of our programme and we are seeing a growing need in this area; another sign of the desperate need to finally see the building development take place.

We trust that you will enjoy this e-newsletter and will let us have any feedback on what you think of it.

With every blessing,
                                                        Malcolm and Anna Wood
Building Development
Praise God!  We have received the final approval for the building work to take place.  The journey this far has been an arduous one but we are grateful to God for leading us and keeping us in this time.  We are currently waiting for the return of the tenders for the job and are praying that the Lord will guide us to theInternet Lounge right contractors.

The new development will provide us with 20 new bedrooms (twin and single en-suites and a disabled room) as well as refurbishing the old school kitchen and dining room.  It also includes re-developing the conference hall and equipping the teaching wing with public toilets, something that has been long awaited !

In the mean time we continue to work on the existing rooms and have completed our Internet Lounge as well as three new offices in the old school building.  The next project is to start the work on the two downstairs rooms, one of which will be fully fitted out for any disabled visitors we may have. This requires some extensive work as the boiler requires replacing, as does most of the plumbing in the area.

The Scottish Modular School

I am released to be the person God made me to be.Modular A Student

Mod A RelaxingOur Modular A students returned for part two of their course in July and it felt like a family reunion!  It re-enforced our belief that these groups bond at a very deep level through the teaching, ministry, laughter and tears. Nearly all of last year’s Modular A students returned in March for Modular B1; which was, once again, like a family reunion.  There is obviously something very special about the Modular School and how it works here.

“I have found peace and restoration as well as wonderful teaching and know I am in a much better position to face what I have to face when I return home.” Modular A StudentModular A Class

Our next Modular A School begins 8th – 15th March 2008.

 Team

Our team, as always, makes us proud to be their leaders.  Their hard work and dedication to excellence shines through and not an event goes by without this being commented on many times.

We are thrilled that Pablo Gonzalez has decided to move into a more permanent position following his YPT year and is working alongside Trevor in the bookshop and sound department.  The House Department is now headed up by Peter Brokaar as Maureen has moved into working with Malcolm on the accounts and helping with Reception.  Jenny Dutfield has taken on the role of Housekeeper and is doing brilliantly.  Erica Smith has also joined the full time team working alongside Peter and Jenny.  Blairmore Team

We continue to pray that God will bring more to this special group who will be willing to share the workload, particularly as we approach a period of physical expansion.  Sadly, many of our YPT are drawing to the end of their time with us and we have very few replacements.

On a much more exciting note we are delighted that Peter and Liz Brokaar are expecting their first child on 30th December.  What a great end to the year we will have!
