February will be a busy month here at Ellel Pierrepont as we are celebrating Pierrepont's 15th birthday. There will be teachings, reunions, and more. We look forward to celebrating together all the amazing miracles God has done in the past fifteen years. As we are encouraged by the past and look to the future, we know that to be able to sustain a powerful move of God here we need a foundation of true holiness. Every Friday at communion the NETS trainees and team come together to worship, hear from God, and study the Scriptures. I have just finished a series on keys to holiness, and would like to share with you the four areas I believe are essential in living a holy lifestyle before God.
In the Monday to Friday of life we have many decisions that require courage in our Christian life. Fear is the opposite of courage and, as a believer, we do not want to be one who caves in under difficult circumstances, compromises, or gives up when the going gets tough. What will keep us on holy ground? "Do not be afraid. God has come to test you, so that the fear of God will be with you to keep you from sinning," Exodus 20:20.
Discipline is another critical element to the holy life. Discipline involves dying to the flesh and following the Spirit. Romans 8:13 says, "If you live according to the sinful nature, you will die." We reap what we sow and if we sow indiscipline we will reap disorder. The payoffs for a disciplined life are enormous. Relational discipline produces flourishing marriages, friendships and good family relationships. The payoff for financial discipline is freedom from debt and the ability to have more to meet the needs of others. Spiritual discipline produces a fulfilled and victorious Christian life.
Visionaries are people who are not paralyzed by problems, but rather immediately look for solutions, and know there is no problem too big for God. Vision is the ability to be far-seeing, both in our own lives and without. Proverbs 29:18, "Where there is no vision, the people perish." While there are a lot of "nuts and bolts" people doing exactly as they're told, we believers need to be more than that. A Christian should be doing more than simply maintaining status quo, but should be looking ahead and pressing in to what God has for their future.
Our carnal nature wants instant results and success. We often want overnight spiritual maturity and have a strong tendency to quit if our expectations are not met. Patient endurance is a quality of a good leader, and is essential for a holy life. Endurance is when we think we can go no further, yet we draw on God's strength and refuse to quit. Quitting has a large hidden price tag, and many have paid dearly for giving up too soon. James 1:12, "Blessed is the man who endures trials, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of Christ."
Walking in holiness paves the way for the Lord Jesus to come into our lives more powerfully. As you begin to walk more in courage, discipline, vision and endurance I pray your Christian walk is transformed with deeper intimacy with your Saviour.

Break Out! - 27th March 2010
While the world and the previous generation seeks to mould our lives as young people, God's call to this generation is to BREAK OUT of the mould and into a radical lifestyle of freedom and obedience to Him.

The work at Ellel Pierrepont has been going now for 14 years and we have seen the Lord faithfully provide for all our needs over that time. Many people have joined with us in the work by supporting us financially either on a one off basis or longer term. We recognise that not everyone can be here at Pierrepont working full time but God has called businesses and individuals who are working full time in other jobs to partner with us in seeing His vision fulfilled.
