Steps to Freedom from Addiction
Are you in control of your life or is something in control of you? Do you feel like a chained prisoner unable to get free from smoking, abuse of alcohol, drugs, pornography or over-eating - to name just a few common addicitons?. This ministry course offers hope and help tothose struggling with any kind of addiction. It seeks to deal with the root causes of the addiction and thus enable victory over the behavioural outworking. For many, this course has been the turning point to lasting freedom from addictive behaviours which have controlled and restricted their lives. The guidelines presented for receiving freedom through the healing power of Jesus are important keys that will be helpful to anyone involves in counselling and prayer ministry teams. Initial teaching looks at what is meant by addiction and addictive behaviour and compares the Christian and secular approach to healing. Teaching then focuses on:
Foundational truths
Explains the nature of our being, the consequence of the fall, our sinful nature, the role of free will and the victory made possible by Jesus, which we can apply to our lives.
Coping mechanisms
Explores the methods we sometimes use to manage emotional hurt and pain or difficult situations. Shows how these can lead to addictive behaviour patterns.
Root causes of addiction
Looks at the various roots of addictions: those caused by our own sins, by the sins of others and by our own response to circumstances of life. A willingness to face and deal with these roots is usually the most significant key to moving into freedom.
Steps to freedom and healing
Explains the important Kingdom truths that need to be applied to set the addicted person free and the Godly defences that must be built up to maintain a life of victory. There will be opportunities during this course to respond to the teaching and receive prayer ministry.
