Peter Horrobin, Internationaal Directeur van Ellel Ministries                       aangaande de toekomst van het werk van Ellel in Nederland en Europa

Beste lezer,

Ellel Ministries bevindt zich in een situatie waarin belangrijke keuzes gemaakt moeten worden over de toekomst van Huize Baak in Nederland en het werk van Ellel Ministries in andere landen van Europa. We willen de situatie graag aan u voorleggen en ik bid dat u deze brief zorgvuldig en biddend zult lezen. Dit is een cruciaal moment voor het Lichaam van Christus in Europa.

Crisis in Europa

In de afgelopen weken hebben we gezien hoe de Griekse economie is ingestort. De Eurozone zakt financieel in en ik geloof dat wat we zien in de zichtbare wereld een beeld is van onderliggende geestelijke beroering. Dit zijn zware tijden. Europa heeft God de rug toegekeerd, verkeert in een crisis en je zou met recht kunnen vragen: 'Waar is God in dit alles? Wat is Hij aan het doen?'

Ik geloof dat een van de dingen die Hij in Europa doet, is Huize Baak klaar maken voor een tijd als deze. Ellel Ministries biedt een stevig fundament voor hoop en genezing, onderwijs en training voor Gods kinderen en ik geloof met heel mijn hart dat dat een van de belangrijkste redenen is waarom God Ellel Ministries in het leven heeft geroepen.

Huize Baak heeft al opmerkelijke vrucht gedragen. Het is daarnaast ook een uitgebreid en prachtig landgoed en vele bezoekers hebben aangegeven dat het een ideale plaats is van waaruit we andere landen in Europa kunnen dienen. Het is een belangrijke plaats voor het volk van God in een tijd van grote nood - Op de volgende link kunt u een korte video zien die de visie van deze plek weer geeft.

Al vanaf het begin van het werk in Nederland, hebben we gezien dat het doel van Huize Baak tweeledig is: zowel als lokale basis voor Nederland, maar ook als toevlucht voor genezing en discipelschap voor mensen uit andere landen. Europa is gefragmenteerd en gebroken en God heeft Huize Baak gegeven voor de gefragmenteerde en gebroken mensen in Europa.

Huize Baak

Huize Baak is in november 2006 aangekocht door Ellel Ministries. Door een aantal gebeurtenissen wees God heel duidelijk de locatie van het landgoed aan en na een moeilijk onderhandelingsproces stelde Hij ons in staat om het te kopen met behulp van een hypotheek. God voorzag in de aanbetaling voor de aankoop door een aantal genereuze giften die we vlak voor de aankoop ontvingen.

Begin dit jaar hadden we op Huize Baak een bijeenkomst met onze Europese leiders uit Zweden, Noorwegen, Duitsland, Zwitserland, Nederland, Frankrijk en het Verenigd Koninkrijk. Iedereen die daar bij aanwezig was, zag een strategische rol voor deze unieke plek. Veel Christenen hebben getuigd dat het centrum aan de ene kant te groot lijkt voor de huidige behoefte van Ellel Nederland, maar dat ze aan de andere kant geloven dat God de grond aan het voorbereiden is om in heel Europa een veel bredere rol te spelen in de moeilijke tijden die voor ons liggen. Dit is tevens de visie van het Bestuur van Ellel Ministries.

De huidige situatie

Met behulp van giften uit diverse bronnen en hulp uit het Verenigd Koninkrijk zijn we in staat geweest om elk kwartaal de hypotheek van 68.000 euro te betalen. Maar we bevinden ons nu in een situatie waarin het voorziene inkomen uit de geplande activiteiten over de komende paar jaar niet voldoende zal zijn voor de driemaandelijkse afbetaling. En in deze tijden van acute recessie in het Verenigd Koninkrijk en in de rest van de wereld, hebben we een punt bereikt waarop we niet langer over voldoende middelen beschikken om het landgoed aan te kunnen houden, ondanks de financiële offers die het team gebracht heeft. Van de laatste driemaandelijkse afbetaling hebben we slechts 25.000 euro kunnen betalen en de bank verzoekt ons met recht om het probleem snel op te lossen.

De keuzes waar we voor staan

We hebben twee alternatieven voor de toekomst:

1. Er moet genoeg financiële dekking zijn vanuit een nieuwe bron, om ofwel de bestaande afbetalingen te dekken, de hypotheek aanzienlijk te verminderen of volledig af te betalen.

         of

2. Als we niet met succes nieuwe fondsen kunnen vinden, dan moeten we het landgoed verkopen en in een kleiner huis verder gaan met alleen het werk in Nederland.

Kleinere behuizing is een stap die zeker haalbaar is en logisch lijkt, maar we willen eerst heel zeker weten dat God ons niet naar andere fondsen leidt, zodat we dit prachtige landgoed kunnen behouden voor Zijn doeleinden, zowel in Nederland als in de rest van Europa.

We zouden het zeer op prijs stellen als u contact met mij (Ellel Grange) of met Peter Freeke (Huize Baak) op zou willen nemen als u gelooft dat God u vraagt om onderdeel uit te maken van nieuwe fondsen voor Huize Baak, of als u ons een alternatieve weg aan kunt bevelen. We willen niets missen van wat God heeft voorbereid voor het werk op deze plek.

De Heer heeft veel belangrijke tekenen gegeven dat Huize Baak de plek was die Hij uitgekozen had. We zijn op zoek naar Gods plan dat ons in staat stelt om er te kunnen blijven en we bidden dat deze brief de juiste persoon of personen zal bereiken die ons kunnen helpen in deze cruciale tijden.

De afgelopen week hebben de voorbidders van al onze centra samen gebeden in Schotland. Zij geloven dat God hun duidelijk heeft laten zien dat Huize Baak van Hem is en dat Hij het voor Zijn doeleinden wil gebruiken door middel van het werk van Ellel Ministries. Wij ervaren dat God van ons vraagt om het centrum op het altaar te leggen en te zien hoe Hij ons verder leidt. Maar de bank kan niet lang wachten en als God niet voorziet in fondsen door Zijn kinderen heen, dan hebben we helaas geen andere keuze dan het landgoed voor verkoop aan te bieden. We vragen u om met ons mee te bidden dat God zal antwoorden.

Dear reader,

The Baak Centre

Ellel Ministries is at a critical decision-making moment with regard to the future of the Baak Centre in the Netherlands, and the wider work of Ellel Ministries in Europe. We would like to share the situation with you and I am praying that you will read this letter carefully and prayerfully. These are very important days for the Body of Christ in Europe.

Europe in Crisis

During the past few weeks we have seen the collapse of the Greek economy. The Euro-zone is in financial melt-down and I believe that what we are seeing in the physical realms is a picture of the underlying spiritual turmoil. These are desperate times. Europe has turned its back on God, is in crisis and one could rightfully ask 'Where is God in all this? What is He doing?'

I do believe that one of the things He has been doing in Europe is to establish the Baak Centre for such a time as this. I passionately believe that the main reason God raised up Ellel Ministries, is to provide a sure foundation of hope and healing, teaching and training for God's people. 

There has already been some amazing fruit at the Baak Centre. It is also a very substantial and beautiful property and countless visitors have remarked on its potential to serve the many nations of Europe. It is a major resource for God's people at a time of great need - the short video you can see at this link truly captures the vision for the work there:

Right from the beginning of the work in Holland we saw the Baak Centre as serving two purposes - both as a local Centre for the Netherlands, and also as a focus for a work of healing and discipleship across the nations. Europe is fragmented and broken and God has provided the Baak Centre for Europe's fragmented and broken people.

The Baak House

The Baak House was acquired for Ellel Ministries in November 2006. Through a series of remarkable incidents, God clearly pointed out the location of the property and, after a challenging process of negotiation, enabled us to buy it with the aid of a bank mortgage. God provided sufficient deposit funds for the purchase, through some wonderful gifts, that were made just in time for the date of contract completion.

Early this year we held a meeting of our European leaders from Sweden, Norway, Germany, Switzerland, Holland, France and the UK at the Baak. Every one of those present saw a strategic future role for this unique place. Many Christians have given witness to the fact that, although the centre seems too big for the current needs of Ellel Holland, they  believe God is preparing the ground for a much wider cross-Europe role for the work in the very challenging days that lie ahead. This is indeed the view of the Executive Leadership of Ellel Ministries.

The Current Situation

Up to now, with the help of donations from various sources and support from the UK, we have managed to pay our quarterly mortgage repayment of 68,000 Euros. But we have now reached the situation in which the foreseeable income over the next couple of years, from all the expected activities at the Baak, will not be sufficient to maintain the quarterly mortgage payments. And in this time of acute recession in the UK and across the world, despite all the sacrificial efforts made by the team, we are at a point where there are not sufficient resources within the Ministry to hold on to the property. We have only been able to pay 25,000 Euros of the last quarterly payment and the bank are rightfully requiring us to solve the problem quickly.

The Alternative Choices We Face

We are left with two alternatives for the way forward:

2. There needs to be substantial financial backing, from a new source, to either cover the existing mortgage payments, significantly reduce our mortgage or eliminate it.

or

2. If we are unsuccessful in finding such new funding, then we must sell the property and downsize to one that will only meet the current needs of the work in Holland.

Downsizing is certainly an achievable and apparently logical step, but we first need to make quite sure that God is not showing us an alternative means of funding, so we can retain this remarkable property for His future purposes both in the Netherlands and in the rest of Europe.

We would be very grateful if you would contact either me (at Ellel Grange) or Peter Freeke (at the Baak Centre) if you believe that God is asking you to be part of a new way forward for the funding of the Baak Centre, or you know of an alternative way forward you can recommend to us. We don't want to miss anything that God has prepared for the work in this place. 

There have been many significant signs from the Lord that the Baak House was the place He had chosen. We are looking for God's plan to enable us to stay there and are praying that this letter will reach the person or persons who will be able to help us at this critical time.

During this past week intercessors from all our Centres have been praying together in Scotland. They believe God has clearly shown them that the Baak Centre is His and is to be used for His purposes through Ellel Ministries. We feel that God is now asking us to put the Centre on His altar to await His way forward. But the bank will not wait long and unless God provides the funding through His people we will be left with no alternative but to very reluctantly place the property on the market. Please pray with us for God's answer.
